Fall 2010 - well most of them

Cris Roxas - an artist under the mentorship of Vlad Ribatchok has been creating impressionistic acrylic art since the fall of 2008. The journey started when she needed to take a rest from the other activities. I felt I needed a break as I do realize I do have too much energy for myself I needed a new challenge. With that, I wondered if I can actually learn how to paint simply because I wasn't even good with pictionary. With much encouragement from a great mentor....the journey begun. He'd always say - "Be brave"; "Don't worry if you make a mistake - you can always fix it"; "Don't be scared".

Learned lots on this one:  Silhoette; Sky; Angles, etc. the hardest piece ever.

This one is a reject.  The first morning I woke up I thought it didn't look anything like how it's supposed to look...it looked like a red Chinese Pork Bun:(

Certainly a favorite.  Sienna Red.  Thanks Mark/Gwen for taking this pix when we in Tuscany.
My first Tuscany painting.  Color of terracota is so rich it makes this piece simply stand out

Tiburon

This piece taught me much about how to paint water, reflection and distance.

Tatang's clay jar

This clay jar is still with the family.  Originally owned by my great grandfather, this jar kept water cool from steaming summer.

Italia

This is picture I borrowed from Tanya.  My teacher taught me about distance, depth and how to paint greens.  I still have a lot to learn about how to paint mountains and trees.  It sure isnt as simple as I thought it would be.

Soho NYC

Shadows, lights, drawing people

“Portofino” - The collection of bright colors, shades, light, shapes, structure, reflection, trees, water, etc has made this little place (Portofino) that sits right in the Italian Riviera a truly fun acrylic project to create. Pieces as such has always been exciting opportunities to create new things with different dimensions and discover new arenas of learning styles and colors along the way.

Romania Impact - Only half of the art pieces received bids and this one was part of those that were sold.

Peonies

This was my first piece I had to part with.  I hope Gyan enjoys it.

NY Public Library

This piece I will be painting every winter for awhile thanks to JPs suggestion.  Dimensions, colors, lights.  I want to see how my perspective change each year.

Sunflower

This piece took forever.  My teacher said it's too dark so I lightened it up.  Then he said it's too dark.  Back and forth until the day he grabbed the brush and he said - it's finished.  Then I said it's not yet done.  The best lesson I learned with this piece...how to let go of a painting and declare it to be finished.

Reject

This one my teacher said isn't a good project for me when I started as it's too dark.  I revisited it a year after and finished it.

This Old Town

Dewburry3

In one of the Dewburry trainings teaching us about space, depth and color.

Dewburry1

A Dewburry class.  I had so much fun doing this piece.  Learned about loading a brush properly and how to get that second shade onto the same brushstroke

Caroline at 4

This was my niece Caroline's work when she was 4.
